Hello to the Warrane community,
Students from Grade 3-6 went to the annual 24 Carrot celebration at Mona yesterday where they participated in a community dance, had a delicious recess and lunch provided and engaged in hands on activities. Student enjoyed the day out and came back to school with many stories to share.
On Tuesday afternoon 13 Grade 5/6 girls went on an adventure with Mrs Gearman.
‘Project Princess’ is an initiative that Grade 10 students from Mt. Carmel College support. The purpose is for the girls to make local community connections. This year they chose Warrane Primary School to be recipients of the funds they raised.
The Mt. Carmel students ordered a Redline coach to take the WPS girls to Sandy Bay where they met Mr. Chapman who organises the projects. 26 Grade 10 girls and 13 WPS girls got on the bus and headed out to the Hobart City Mission Op Shop in Moonah. Each WPS was given $30 to spend. The girls bought clothes, teddy bears, books, shoes and other trinkets. From there they travelled to Cornelian Bay Boat Park where they played and then devoured as much pizza as they could!!
Mrs. Gearman said that the WPS students had an amazing time and displayed our school values while out in public eye. Thank you to the Mt. Carmel students for thinking of us and providing such a wonderful opportunity to the young girls of WPS.
This Monday is the Inter-School Swimming Carnival at the Aquatic Centre in Hobart. Chosen students from Grades 3-6 will participate in a range of events. Students were chosen from Swimming and Water Safety information due to the cancellation of our carnival during the lock down. Good luck to those who are attending and have fun!

Warrane Primary School have 20 students selected to particpate at the upcoming Southern Primary Schools Sports Association Division F Interschool Swimming Carnival. The event will take place on Monday 8th of November from 10:30am until 1pm at the Hobart Aquatic Centre. At this stage, parents are welcome to attend, making sure to enter through the main entrance where a $4 admission fee will need to be paid to the centre staff. Face masks are encouraged.
The bus will leave school at 9:30am and return to school at around 1.30pm.
Please ensure that your child arrives to school promptly on the day of the carnival with appropriate swimwear including bathers, goggles, a towel, underwear to change into and a bag for wet items. Green swimming caps will be provided by the school to identify our swimmers.
Unfortunately, the kiosk has not been booked this year. It may be open on the day, however, children must bring a packed lunch and drink bottle filled with water.
Hello. My name is Grace, and I am the new School Health Nurse at Warrane Primary School. I will be working at WPS every Monday. My role within the school is to provide health education and health promotion to students and the wider school community. Along with the Kindergarten Health Assessments, I will be working within the classrooms to promote health and wellbeing to the students.
I am also able to offer vision & hearing screening for any student. If you have concerns about your child/ren’s vision or hearing, please see the school office for a consent form.
I look forward to working at Warrane Primary School and meeting the community. Please contact me at the school on a Monday with any questions/ concerns regarding your child’s health. Alternatively, you may email grace.buckpitt@education.tas.gov.au.
Grade 1/2 were very excited to design, plan and make their own puppets last term. They then wrote and published a narrative story about the adventures of their puppet character with some fantastic illustrations. Students were able to use the puppet theatre to re-create their stories. They worked really hard on this and did a wonderful job!

Pre-Kinder is on every Thursday in the Kinder classroom from 9am to 10.30am.
This is for all children born in 2017 who are attending Warrane Primary School Kindergarten in 2022.

Early Childhood
Games are a great way for children to learn maths concepts and vocabulary in a fun and engaging way.
Play ‘Guess my number’. For example ‘I am thinking of a two digit number. One of my digits is 6. What number might I be thinking of?’
Clues to encourage maths vocabulary and concepts:
- Odd and even numbers: ‘My number is an even number.’
- Place value: ‘My number has a number in the tens and ones place.’
- ‘My number has 2 digits.’
- ‘My number is between 1 and 20.’
Primary
Problem-solving is an important skill for students to learn. Help your child to explain their thinking and to build resilience to keep trying different strategies even when they don’t get the answer straight away.
Question:
What does 12 tens and 34 hundreds equal?
FREE DRESS DAY - PJS/DRESS DOWN DAY

During Term 4 students are required to wear hats at all break times and during outdoor lessons. The skin on faces, heads, necks and ears is much more sensitive to sun damage so it is important that your child brings a hat to school that covers these sensitive areas.
Bucket hats are available at the school office to purchase for $6.
Congratulations to the winner of the Warrane Pharmacy raffle.
A big thank you to Warrane Pharmacy for raising $365 to go towards our school Buddy Bench.
A Buddy Bench is a seat where students can sit on if they are feeling lonely at school. During recess or lunch if a student feels lonely, needs someone to talk to, or simply needs a friend to play with, they sit on the Buddy Bench. Peers will then see that there is someone in need of a friend. They may sit next to their new friend on the Buddy Bench or invite them to play.

We are kindly seeking donations for our Christmas raffle. Items can include unused or non-perishable items. If you are able to donate even one item such as a toy, game, book etc. it would be greatly appreciated. Funds raised from the raffle will go towards re-surfacing our playground/garden.
Tickets are 3 for $5.00 OR $2.00 each. You can also purchase a book for $15.00
If you reside in our school intake area and your child will be attending Kindergarten at Warrane Primary School in 2022 (turning 5 years old during 2022), please complete a form at the office.
Below is a map of our new intake area (purple highlighted section).
