Hello to the Warrane Community,
Now that the weather is getting warmer, classes have been able to get back outside and utilise the grounds. Students have been working alongside the new Garden Specialist, Ryan Marshall, to get the garden flourishing again. In the next few weeks students will get the opportunity to help create scarecrows. We will make three scarecrows in total, one for the garden and two others for around the school grounds. All resources have been donated from Bunnings in Mornington – Thanks Bunnings!!
Tuesday the 20th of September from 2pm all parents and carers are welcome to come into their child(s) classroom. Students will have work samples ready to share with you. Teachers will be in their classrooms to speak with you and support students in sharing their learning. At the end of the day there will be a free sausage sizzle to celebrate what the students have achieved so far this year.
All schools received their NAPLAN results this week and I am very proud to report that Warrane PS students did an exceptional job. 5 areas of learning are tested, Reading, Writing, Spelling, Punctuation & Grammar and Numeracy. Both grades in all 5 areas were well above similar schools. This is an amazing achievement for our school community. Parents will receive an individual report sent home with students next week.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend,
Sarah Hoban
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF TRADITIONAL OWNERS
We would like to pay respect to the traditional and original owners of this land the Muwinina people – to pay respect to those that have passed before us and to acknowledge today’s Tasmanian Aboriginal community who are the custodians of this land.

Term 2

Term 3
Tuesday 26 July - Friday 30 September

Thursday, 22nd September will be a one-off public holiday in honour of the Queen.
On Tuesday 20th September we will be holding a Family Open Afternoon for all Kinder to Year 6 Warrane Primary School parents and families. The changes to the Department of Education reporting process requires schools to provide opportunities for regular communications with families about their child’s learning progress. The Open Afternoon will allow students to show their families around their classrooms and share work samples and evidence of learning with families. There will also be opportunities to speak with the classroom teacher/s on students learning progress and application to learning this term.
Classrooms will be open from 2.00pm-3.00pm for families to visit and a BBQ will be provided outside the library area from 2.30pm. Families are welcome to take their children to visit siblings in other classrooms, we just ask that you let their classroom teacher know.
We look forward to seeing families next Tuesday and sharing our learning with you.
Warrane Primary School is holding a School Association meeting on Friday 23rd September at 2pm.
We are inviting all parents and community members to help assist with planning and running events for our children to enjoy and to help fundraise for the school. If you are interested, we would love to see you next Friday.
SCHOOL SATISFACTION SURVEY 2022 - REMINDER
The 2022 School Satisfaction Surveys are open!
Every year the Department of Education conducts School Satisfaction Surveys to find out what your child(ren)'s school does well and where it may improve. Your feedback is very important to help us inform our school improvement planning and decision-making.
If you have not had the opportunity to complete the survey about Warrane Primary School yet, it is open until Friday 23 September 2022 and should take about 5 minutes of your time.
Each family should nominate one person to fill in this survey for their child(ren).
Take the online survey by clicking this link or pasting it in your browser: https://ncv.microsoft.com/uZf4Z7XBkf
The survey is carried out on a secure website and all responses are anonymous and confidential.
All families in this school received the same survey link and no identifying information is collected. A summary of the survey results will be provided to schools. Responses from individuals or small groups will NOT be disclosed to any Department of Education staff.
Please contact your school if you require any assistance.
Thank you for taking the time to fill in this survey.
Grade 3-6 students enjoyed a fun filled day of racing and activities at the Swimming Carnival last week.
It was wonderful to see the students happily participating and encouraging one another.
Big thank you to parents who were able to help on the day. Events like these require volunteers to make the day run smoothly so we truly appreciate your help.

Wednesday 21st September is "Pizza and Footy Colours Day" to raise funds for the Grade 6 Leavers.
There will be three choices of pizza available which will be sold for $2.00 per slice (up to 3 slices per student).
If students wish to wear footy colours it will be a $2 donation.
Notices have been sent home with students. Please return by the afternoon of Monday 19th September.
There will be no late orders.
We are looking for volunteers to assist with the serving of the pizza. If you are able to spare an hour to help, please contact the office.
We appreciate your help.
Reminder that smoking is banned on the premises of Warrane Primary School - including car park.
SCHOOL HALL SPACE NOW AVAILABLE
Are you looking for a space to hire? Our School Hall is now available.
Please contact Laura on 6244 1747 to organise a walk through.
***DAYS ARE LIMITED***
Reminder that in Term 4 students are required to wear hats at all break times and during outdoor lessons. The skin on faces, heads, necks and ears is much more sensitive to sun damage so it is important that your child brings a hat to school that covers these sensitive areas.
Bucket hats are available at the school office to purchase for $6.

Hello to the Warrane Primary School community,
The last few weeks have felt somewhat strange for the staff and students, having last Thursday as a public holiday and this week a half day due to the industrial strike. I think we are all ready for a fortnight of rest and rejuvenation so we can be ready for Term 4.
Grade 5/6B had an incursion today, with staff from Arbre, the educational sector of Forestry Tasmania visiting to share information on what they do, what jobs are in the industry and how to safely sustain and protect our wilderness. Students had the opportunity to use a simulator and drive a bulldozer and cut down a tree. Engagement from students was amazing and feedback has been very positive.
The lunch menu will be changing again for Term 4, with some favourites coming back. Food Matters staff asked students which meals they like the best. Spaghetti, lasagne and cottage pie were the most common responses and will be on our Term 4 menu.
The last game of football/soccer and netball will be tomorrow at Richmond Primary. I have been overwhelmed by the positive impact this program has had on the students. They have thoroughly enjoyed training and competing and have looked forward to every game with anticipation and joy.
Have a safe and relaxing break.
