Hello to the Warrane families and community,
We are coming to the end of a very busy term, with our Easter Holiday break starting tomorrow.
I would like to say a big thank you to our amazing school community who generously donated and purchased tickets for the Easter raffle. We raised over $1100.00 with the money going towards the purchase of new basketball hoops for our upper primary playground. Congratulations to Jess and family who won first prize!
This week selected students in Years 3-6 participated in the Interschool Athletics Carnival at the Domain Athletics Centre. All the students had a successful day and were commended on their sportsmanship and school spirit that they displayed. Thank you to Mr K for the organisation of the interschool carnival and to our teaching staff and parent volunteers who attended. Mr K reported that our students displayed exceptional skills and showed a great spirit of sportsmanship, courage, resilience, and behaviour throughout the event. Students also displayed a positive attitude and respect for their fellow competitors. Warrane finished 6th out of all the schools participating on the day, so well done all!
A friendly reminder that next Tuesday is a Departmental Public Holiday, with students not returning from the Easter break until Wednesday 3rd April. The school office will also be closed.
I am taking long service leave after the Easter break, so I will not be back until the beginning of Term 2. Eliza Withers will be acting in my role for the remainder of the term.
I wish everyone a relaxing and safe Easter and Term 1 holiday break and look forward to seeing you all when I am back.
Sarah Hoban
Principal

Congratulations to Ruby and Addy who received Aussie of the Term certificates in assembly this week.
Aussie of the term offers the opportunity to recognise exceptional students who are contributing to their community and reflecting some of the values we share as Australians, such as:
Fair go – not just how we apply ourselves but providing opportunity for all.
Mateship – generosity of spirit and compassion for those in need.
Respect – of self, others, our community, and the environment.
Inclusion – celebrating of difference and the rights we are all entitled to.
As Australia moves toward being the most overweight Country in the world it is imperative that we do all we can to have our children fit and healthy.
At WPS we have 2 formal Physical Education sessions per week, and supplement this with 3 Daily Fitness sessions. These sessions are run by our Grade 6 Leaders, with support from grade 5 students who are striving to become leaders in 2025. The sessions are planned and involve a mix of high intensity movement, gross motor skills, dance, and yoga. All sessions begin with a warm-up, followed by an activity, and culminate with a cool down. All classes from Kinder to Grade 6 participate, as do our amazing Staff. Weather extremes are considered, and we have alternate activities for those days when being outside is not the best option. The feedback from staff and students has been overwhelmingly positive.
Have a chat to your young person about what they are doing in Daily Fitness this week.
- Children of all ages can benefit from being physically active.
- Physical activity is essential for good physical and mental health and wellbeing.
- Physical activity does not need to be a structured sport. Anything that gets them up and moving will benefit your child.
- Children spend time sitting at school, doing homework, and reading and it's important to strike a balance and to find more opportunities for them to move.

5/6 LIFE SKILL COOKING PROGRAM
This week our support program students researched what flavour fruit smoothie they wanted to make. They shopped for the ingredients whilst sticking to a budget, then made and served delicious strawberry, watermelon and banana smoothies to their classmates. They were absolutely delicious.
They also bumped into the Easter Bunny during their little trip to the Shoreline shopping centre!
To all our volunteers – have you completed your safeguarding training yet?
This year, there is important training that anyone who works with children or young people must complete.
To complete your training, simply visit https://decyp-safeguarding.mygo1.com/login or use the QR on the flyer below or in the school office. Make sure you save the certificate to show the office you have completed it.
Thank you for leading the way in caring for our children and keeping young people safe.
Hats are required for Term 1! Please ensure that your child has a sun-safe hat to wear. Hats can be purchased at the office for $6. No caps please.
Please ensure your child's hat is clearly marked. In the event students don’t have a hat they will be asked to sit in the shaded area.

Warrane Primary are pleased to advise that we have the opportunity for Anglicare’s Taz Kids program to run a Taz Kids Club in our school in Term 3.
Taz kids is a program that supports children (aged 7-17) and their families. It is designed for students who might sometimes struggle emotionally, feel depressed, anxious or experience any other mental health concerns or those who live with a parent or guardian experiencing similar feelings.
The group aims to help young people learn how to cope with difficulties in life and build stress tolerance. It assists in understanding and managing their feelings, and promotes resilience.
Taz Kids Club is aimed at Grades 1 – 6 and will run for seven weeks during school time for around 50 minutes, with each session filled with games and learning activities. The Program is free and confidential.
For more information or to express your interest for your child please contact the school office.
If your child requires medication or an EpiPen at school, the following guidelines need to be followed:
- All medications and EpiPen's must be in date and in the original packaging with the Pharmacist label stating the child’s name and dosage (this includes non-prescription medication, eg paracetamol).
- A Parent/Guardian DoE Authorisation form needs to be completed for all medications that are to be administered at school.
- Medical Practitioner/Pharmacist DoE Authorisation forms needs to be completed for ongoing prescription medication and EpiPen’s.
- Asthma, epilepsy and anaphylaxis action plans need to be updated every year by your doctor and provided to the school office.
A reminder that parents must not park in the staff car park to pick up and drop off children.
The carpark at the front of the school is the designated parent/guardian carpark for dropping students off and picking them up.
The smaller carpark is strictly for staff parking and deliveries.
It is not safe for students to be walking through this carpark due to lack of visibility for delivery drivers and reversing cars.
We appreciate your cooperation.
