Hello Warrane families and community!
This week Warrane Primary hosted the official launch of the School Food Matters lunch program. We had many visitors to our school including the ABC news! We are very proud that our school was one of the first schools to trial the hot food program back in 2020. It has been such as success that the initiative will now be introduced to more schools across the state. The visitors were very impressed, especially with the grade 5/6 leaders who did a wonderful job taking people for a tour around the school.
We also had a visit from the team at Tas Networks to come and teach the grade 3-4 and 5-6 classes about electricity. The presenters led the children through lessons on electrical circuits. The students had a great time exploring how switches worked and creating power with a mini generator.
We would love to acknowledge our gardener Ollie and Volunteer Mick who take the children’s learning outside. Twice a term the students can experience real-life hands-on learning, having opportunities to plant, harvest and explore.
Mid-year reports will come home at the end of next week. The family communication meetings will be held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of the last week of school. This meeting is an opportunity to discuss your child’s learning progress, friendships and social growth with your child’s teacher. Please click on the link to book a time with your child’s teacher.
Enjoy the rest of your week,
Sarah Hoban
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF TRADITIONAL OWNERS
I acknowledge and pay respect to the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community as the traditional and original owners of lutruwita/trowunna (Tasmania) and as the enduring custodians of the lands, seas, air and waterways. I pay respect to Elders past and present.
MID YEAR REPORTS & FAMILY PROGRESS MEETINGS (PREP - GRADE 6)
Mid-Year Reports will be sent home with students on Friday 28th June.
Family Progress Meetings (Parent-Teacher Meetings) for Prep to Grade 6 students will be held from Monday 1st July to Wednesday 3rd July.
Family progress meetings provide opportunity for two-way conversation focusing on learning progress and effort. This will also include important sharing of students work samples.
Each booking is allocated every 15 minutes, however the meetings will be approximately 10 minutes to allow transition time from one class to another, and for teachers to prepare for their next meeting.
Bookings open Monday 17th June and close Friday 28th June.
Bookings will be made online through Schoolzine, using the link provided below:
1/2 WILLIAMS LEARNING SNAPSHOT
In 1/2 Williams we have been learning about measurement. We explored capacity using a range of informal measurements, using different types of containers and foods. We all love the hands-on activities (and sometimes mess) that comes with our learning in this area. It has been fantastic hearing all the discussions amongst the students as they complete each task.
In Launching into Learning we have been exploring what we might want to be when we grow up. We have been having lots of fun!

The cooler months bring colds, flu, COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses. The best way to look after yourself and your family is to prepare, plan and protect.
- Prepare and get vaccinated. Making sure the whole family are up to date with their flu and COVID-19 vaccines is the best way to protect them from getting very sick.
- Flu can be serious for young children. Children are more likely to catch and spread the flu and young children may become very sick.
- Everyone aged over 6 months can receive an annual flu vaccine. Flu vaccines are free* for children under 5 years, pregnant women, people aged over 65 years, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and those with certain medical conditions.
- Adults can receive COVID-19 vaccine every 6 to 12 months, depending on age and individual health. Speak to your GP or pharmacist about what vaccines are recommended for you and your family.
- You can receive flu and COVID-19 vaccines on the same day. Book an appointment with your GP or local pharmacist today.

If your child requires medication or an EpiPen at school, the following guidelines need to be followed:
- All medications and EpiPen's must be in date and in the original packaging with the Pharmacist label stating the child’s name and dosage (this includes non-prescription medication, eg paracetamol).
- A Parent/Guardian DoE Authorisation form needs to be completed for all medications that are to be administered at school.
- Medical Practitioner/Pharmacist DoE Authorisation forms needs to be completed for ongoing prescription medication and EpiPen’s.
- Asthma, epilepsy and anaphylaxis action plans need to be updated every year by your doctor and provided to the school office.
A reminder that parents must not park in the staff car park to pick up and drop off children.
The carpark at the front of the school is the designated parent/guardian carpark for dropping students off and picking them up.
The smaller carpark is strictly for staff parking and deliveries.
It is not safe for students to be walking through this carpark due to lack of visibility for delivery drivers and reversing cars.
We appreciate your cooperation.

Warrane Primary are pleased to advise that we have the opportunity for Anglicare’s Taz Kids program to run a Taz Kids Club in our school in Term 3.
Taz kids is a program that supports children (aged 7-17) and their families. It is designed for students who might sometimes struggle emotionally, feel depressed, anxious or experience any other mental health concerns or those who live with a parent or guardian experiencing similar feelings.
The group aims to help young people learn how to cope with difficulties in life and build stress tolerance. It assists in understanding and managing their feelings, and promotes resilience.
Taz Kids Club is aimed at Grades 1 – 6 and will run for seven weeks during school time for around 50 minutes, with each session filled with games and learning activities. The Program is free and confidential.
For more information or to express your interest for your child please contact the school office.
