Hello to the Warrane community,
Classes from Year 1-6 have participated in the Hydro Tasmania educational sessions this week. The sessions provided hands on learning opportunities, aligned with the Science and HASS curriculum and provided information about Hydro Tasmania.
On Wednesday this week we had a representative from Sustainable Timber Tasmania as part of National Schools Tree Day. A group of students from Grade 3-6 planted 20 seedlings on the fence line of the top oval with help from the school garden team.
Last Friday students in Grade 5 and 6 participated in the Winter Sports roster. The program involves non-competitive games of soccer or football and netball against Cambridge, Rokeby, Clarendon Vale and Risdon Vale primary schools. The next round of games is on Friday the 9th of August at Warrane against Cambridge Primary. Games start at 1pm in the primary playground – with all families welcome to come and watch.
This Monday the 5th of August there is a whole school assembly. 3/4 Spencer are hosting, with Prep and 1/2 Williams sharing. Please come along and celebrate student learning from the beginning of Term 3 with us.
Selected students from grades 3-6 will participate in the Australian Mathematics Competition next week.
Ditto Bravehearts Show is on Thursday the 9th of August for grades Prep – 2. More information will be sent to the families next week. The show promotes age appropriate personal safety information.
Have a lovely weekend

Principal
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF TRADITIONAL OWNERS
I acknowledge and pay respect to the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community as the traditional and original owners of lutruwita/trowunna (Tasmania) and as the enduring custodians of the lands, seas, air and waterways. I pay respect to Elders past and present.
Pre-Kinder 2024
Our pre kinder sessions are held every Thursday from 9:00am – 10:00am in the Kindergarten classroom.
These sessions are for:
- Children who live in the area and will be attending Warrane Primary School in 2025.
- Children turning four years old on the 1January or who were born in 2020.
Children must be accompanied by an adult who is responsible for the supervision and management of the child in their care.
Kinder enrolment forms are available to collect at the office.
Looking forward to seeing many new and familiar families.
Kind regards,
Mrs Reinbach
We have launched into our Term 3 curriculum focus with excitement and rigour. By absolute chance, the amazing Emma introduced a board game to our class called ‘Greed’. It is all about taking a calculated risk, but as we are learning what we expect is different to what we observe with chance. We are using the Olympic Games in Paris to support developing information texts in English, and we continue to keep the school priority of reading at the fore with daily sustained reading in the classroom, sharing our class novel, and taking the myriad of opportunities made available to us to enhance our reading and comprehension skills. Linking beautifully with our hopes and dreams at the Olympics (gold, gold, gold) our HASS focus is all about the gold rushes in Australia. Science will be a big part of Term 3 as it also includes Science Week, we have a lot of hands-on activities planned for physical science.

If your child requires medication or an EpiPen at school, the following guidelines need to be followed:
- All medications and EpiPen's must be in date and in the original packaging with the Pharmacist label stating the child’s name and dosage (this includes non-prescription medication, eg paracetamol).
- A Parent/Guardian DoE Authorisation form needs to be completed for all medications that are to be administered at school.
- Medical Practitioner/Pharmacist DoE Authorisation forms needs to be completed for ongoing prescription medication and EpiPen’s.
- Asthma, epilepsy and anaphylaxis action plans need to be updated every year by your doctor and provided to the school office.
A reminder that parents must not park in the staff car park to pick up and drop off children.
The carpark at the front of the school is the designated parent/guardian carpark for dropping students off and picking them up.
The smaller carpark is strictly for staff parking and deliveries.
It is not safe for students to be walking through this carpark due to lack of visibility for delivery drivers and reversing cars.
We appreciate your cooperation.
The cooler months bring colds, flu, COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses. The best way to look after yourself and your family is to prepare, plan and protect.
- Prepare and get vaccinated. Making sure the whole family are up to date with their flu and COVID-19 vaccines is the best way to protect them from getting very sick.
- Flu can be serious for young children. Children are more likely to catch and spread the flu and young children may become very sick.
- Everyone aged over 6 months can receive an annual flu vaccine. Flu vaccines are free* for children under 5 years, pregnant women, people aged over 65 years, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and those with certain medical conditions.
- Adults can receive COVID-19 vaccine every 6 to 12 months, depending on age and individual health. Speak to your GP or pharmacist about what vaccines are recommended for you and your family.
- You can receive flu and COVID-19 vaccines on the same day. Book an appointment with your GP or local pharmacist today.
